The Iconic Puzzle Game Couldn't Triumph at The Game Awards — Another Award Type Might Solve This

Whenever a major prize-giving event nears, one notices a clamor for introducing of new categories to recognize unsung work and fill the hearts of followers dedicated to specific genres.

A fellow writer previously argued for a horror game category. It would be amazing. Equally deserving are strategy board titles, which is someone's personal cause. But they will have to forgive me when I prioritize just as with other dedicated enthusiasts, there's a strong justification supporting my request stands as crucial and important of all. This is the request: It's essential to create a classification for brain-teasing titles.

Organizing Gaming Categories

Categorizing art by genre isn't exact; it’s very subjective, and typically start arguments and end in fuzzy definitions. This explains why film award organizations avoid this approach. Yet it remains a necessary evil for the industry of video games, which are so diverse it's challenging to consider them one unified medium.

For the full spectrum of gaming accomplishments to be recognized, and for games of all stripes to receive proper recognition, classification by type becomes crucial.

Existing Game Classification System

Prominent interactive entertainment events presently include genre categories for Action-oriented games, Adventure-action titles, Role-Playing, Combat games, Simulation and strategy titles, and Sports/Racing games. Together, these six categories effectively encompass many game types, allowing placement for most games within them.

Different situation exists for brain-teasing titles. No suitable classification appears to accommodate them. Think about these outstanding current releases, each quite distinct: the architectural riddles from a specific release, intense tile-matching of another game, thought-provoking social scenarios from additional release. Where could they possibly go among existing types? Nowhere, that’s where.

Recognition Challenges

Many instances occur outstanding logic titles published annually lacking appropriate categories during gaming ceremonies, unless they happen to qualify classification types such as Mobile Game, Virtual reality experiences, and the highly challenging small studio competitions.

  • One classic puzzle game wasn’t nominated in any category that year
  • Another imaginative release was excluded during that ceremony
  • A beloved organization game was overlooked that year
  • Just some puzzle games barely qualified for niche award types

Importance of Logic Titles

These are often small games, yet the craft of the puzzle game is of massive significance. Famous handheld logic titles rank among the most-played games in the world and have been for over a decade.

The famous puzzle experience rivals well-known building titles for the title of highest-selling title ever; it also contends for best game of all time. Brain-teasers form essential building blocks to the art of video games, while interacting with diverse game types.

Proposal and Rationale

Brain-teasers wouldn't encounter that issue. It would be easy to populate multiple candidates with fascinating, diverse, deserving games each ceremony simply — or rather, with difficulty, given the need to exclude numerous deserving experiences.

To emphasize again, these are games lacking appropriate categories during prominent ceremonies. Logic title developers operate at the hard edge of video game design, creating some of the purest expressions of the video game form. Just like cinema stunt performers, they warrant appreciation. We shouldn't delay decades.
