The second-hand marketplace Members Voice Anger About Size Changes
Vinted users have been reacting angrily after an update resulted in items being listed as the wrong size.
The popular resale platform has altered its sizing categories for female and kids' apparel without notifying every member regarding the update.
Online Platforms Backlash
Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online stating that platform listings now display an altered size classification compared to what was initially listed because of the remapping.
The platform stated the revised method more closely matches other platforms.
The platform has recommended to examine their items and adjust the sizing manually when needed, resulting in member annoyance.
Measurement Approach Modifications
Previously, the sizes had both numerical and alphabetical indicators, like S/8 or M/10.
The new system has an alphabetical indicator and numerical range like S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the size labels have been reassigned - like an L measurement was previously a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
User Accounts
Frankie Bridger, who creates plus-size fashion videos, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Stephanie Gallen, from Glasgow, said garments she listed with size 14 tags were displaying on the service as size 20–22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they may become frustrated," she stated.
Necessary Adjustments
Another shopper, from Derby, said she had been left angered because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizing for "all her products".
"This situation is especially annoying, since I have chronic health issues and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she said.
Marketplace Information
The app has more than 100 million users, with 18 million British users.
It has proved a popular alternative compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time that an unexpected update within the service has received backlash: last year, the service retracted a modification to its shipping options after backlash from users.
